An artisan from Wenzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, recently made three boxwood carvings to welcome the upcoming Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.

The three artworks were created by Yu Jinshun, a master artisan in boxwood carving with over 50 years of experience. Yu, who hails from Yueqing, a county-level city in Wenzhou, has since 2013 created nearly 100 works featuring people of different nationalities and occupations across different historical periods in the nation.

Boxwood carving was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage in 2006.

"The Beijing Winter Olympics is a joyous event for people all over the country, and I want to convey this joy through my works," said Yu, who receives support from the Zhejiang Culture and Art Development Fund.

The Games will take place from Feb 4 to 20 in Beijing and Zhangjiakou, a city in Hebei province.
