The first Italy-China bilateral workshop on sci-tech research and higher education in the sea sciences was held online on May 31.

The seminar was organized by the Italian embassy in China, Zhejiang Ocean University, University of Pisa, and other institutes.

Chinese and Italian experts, including Doctor Isabella Buttino from Stazione zoologica Anton Dohrn di Napoli and Professor Yan Xiaojun from ZJOU, shared their latest research in the marine field at the seminar.

The Italian Institute for Environmental Protection and Research also renewed its memorandum of understanding with ZJOU until 2025, and the marine science laboratory built by ZJOU, ISPRA, and the University of Pisa was introduced at the online seminar.

In late 2021, ZJOU and the University of Pisa established the Pisa Marine Graduate School of Zhejiang Ocean University.
