Jiaxing sees improved economy in Q1-3

Jiaxing saw an improved economy in the first three quarters of this year, according to the Jiaxing statistics bureau.

The city's gross domestic product totaled 507.43 billion yuan ($69.41 billion) during this period, a year-on-year increase of 6.7 percent.

The added values of the primary, secondary and tertiary industries were 9.38 billion yuan, 274.59 billion yuan and 223.45 billion yuan, respectively, up 3.3 percent, 6.4 percent, and 7.1 percent.

The added value of industrial enterprises above designated size in the city exceeded 214.88 billion yuan, an uptick of 7.8 percent and ranking fifth in the province in terms of growth rate.

During this period, the city's fixed asset investment expanded 11 percent to 259.82 billion yuan.

The total retail sales of consumer goods in the city reached 178.37 billion yuan, an increase of 7.4 percent.

The city's imports and exports were valued at 331.55 percent, an increase of 1.9 percent year-on-year. Imports were valued at 76.56 billion yuan, down 11.6 percent.

Emerging markets were the main growth areas for exports. In the first three quarters, the city's exports to ASEAN, Latin America, Africa and India reached 38.09 billion yuan, 17.97 billion yuan, 12.79 billion yuan and 11.41 billion yuan, up 23.9 percent, 13.7 percent, 44.8 percent and 15 percent, respectively

The city's general public budget revenue was 53.66 billion yuan, a rise of 6.3 percent year-on-year. General public budget expenditure was 60.28 billion yuan, down 0.5 percent year-on-year, of which 47.459 billion yuan was spent on people's livelihoods, accounting for 78.7 percent of the total.

In addition, the per capita disposable income for urban residents saw an increase of 5.4 percent to 58,910 yuan, while that of rural residents was 40,837 yuan, up 7.2 percent.
