As part of the warm-up performance for the 4th Hangzhou Asian Para Games opening ceremony, a song and dance performance called Paint a Future showed the unique charm of Kecheng district, Quzhou, to the world on Oct 22.
The performance included the song Paint a Future in Yudong sung by Quzhou singer Xu Zhaoting, who also performed at the 19th Hangzhou Asian Games opening ceremony. It also combined elements of country waltz and farmer paintings in a unique square dance, expressing people's hopes for a better life.
The 53 performers were from all walks of life in Kecheng, ranging from 23 to 57 years old.
Chen Danping, the director of the performance, explained that the goal of the performance was mainly to showcase Yudong farmer paintings.
A farmer painting themed on the Asian Games created by Yudong farmer painters Zheng Limin, Mao Meixian, Guo Yaosheng, Zheng Weiliang and Yu Yunmei was reproduced on large fans with a height of 1.8 meters and a width of 3 meters. The large fans were tied to some performers' waists, showcasing the colorful rural scenery of Yudong village.
