Jiaxing ranked third in Zhejiang and 21st in China on the 2023 list of the top 100 cities in advanced manufacturing released by CCID Consulting, rising five places from last year.

The list evaluated 293 cities based on five indicators: innovation, integration, economic growth, brand quality and green intensification. The report showed that in 2023 the top 100 cities in advanced manufacturing have 174 manufacturing enterprises among the top 500 Chinese enterprises, accounting for 68 percent of the national total.

Jiaxing has issued a plan to optimize its industrial layout and accelerate its advanced manufacturing clusters, focusing on high-end, intelligent and green development.

The city aims to form a 135N advanced manufacturing cluster system consisting of one global, three national, five regional and N high-growth industrial clusters by 2025.

It will also strive to keep the proportion of manufacturing value-added in gross domestic product above 42 percent, the proportion of 135N clusters in the city's industry above 50 percent, and the per-mu tax payment and value-added of industrial enterprises above designated size at 370,000 yuan ($51,790) and 2.4 million yuan, respectively.
