China Academy of Art celebrates 96th anniversary
The China Academy of Art, or CAA, held a series of academic activities at its Nanshan campus on April 8 to mark its 96th anniversary.
Five major projects were announced during the event, namely the Centennial Masters of CAA creation and research project, the CAA Yangtze River Delta Art Initiative, and the establishment of the AI Center, Beautiful China Image Center, and Research Center of Art-Synesthesia.
In 2023, CAA launched the Centennial Masters of CAA creation and research project, which will continue until the centenary celebration in 2028. The project aims to commemorate over 100 deceased teachers who have studied, taught, worked, and grown at the academy since its founding in 1928 through the sculpting of statues, memorial exhibitions, symposiums, and social art education initiatives.
In addition, new centers include the Beautiful China Image Center, the China Academy of Art AI Center, or CAA AI Center, and the Research Center of Art-Synesthesia, also known as RCAS.
The CAA AI Center will integrate art, artificial intelligence, engineering technology, and computer science research. Operating in both Beijing and Hangzhou, the Center will undertake various projects catering not only to teaching, experimentation, and research but also to industry and social services.
The RCAS is the world's first synesthesia research institution based on an artistic and humanistic perspective. The center aims to explore the consciousness of artistic origins and pioneer infinite combinations of various senses and arts across disciplines.
