Canadian teacher explores China by motorcycle
Scott, a 39-year-old Canadian teacher who resides in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, recently completed a breathtaking 51-day, 20,000-kilometer motorcycle journey through China.
Starting in Zhejiang, Scott rode through Fujian, Guangdong, and Jiangxi, covering thousands of miles and immersing himself in China's diverse landscapes and cultures. For him, this wasn't just a trip; it was a lifelong dream come true.
With little prior knowledge of China before arriving 16 years ago, Scott has since been captivated by the country's rich culture and diverse landscapes. Having worked in international logistics and resided in cities like Shanghai, Beijing, and Haikou, he transitioned into teaching four years ago, ultimately settling in Cixi, a county-level city in Ningbo, six months ago.
As summer vacation kicked off in late June, Scott seized the opportunity to embark on a motorcycle trip across China.
"I want to experience China with all my senses. This ride was my way of doing that," he said.
The journey was no easy feat. Scott braved long stretches of highway, challenging terrain, and unpredictable weather. But the rewards were immeasurable. From the rolling hills of Guizhou to the bustling streets of Guangdong, he savored every moment. He marveled at the natural beauty, tasted local delicacies, and engaged with people from all walks of life.
"China's food is incredible," he laughed, pointing to his expanding waistline. "Every pound gained is a happy memory."
