Zhoushan works to be more child-friendly
To give children a supportive and healthy place to grow up, Daishan county in Zhoushan, Zhejiang province launched Children's Friendly Living Week on Dec 8.
At the launch ceremony, 10 projects aimed at supporting migrant children and creating child-friendly communities by 2025 were announced. Highlights include holiday childcare services for such children, care packages for those returning home for Chinese New Year, parent-child reading activities, and personal counseling services.

"Daishan has a significant population of migrant children. Through these services, we hope to make both local and migrant children feel cared for and loved," said a representative from the Zhoushan Women's Federation.
So far, Zhoushan has established 81 child-friendly units, including communities, schools, hospitals, and parks. The city is also developing several large-scale marine-themed projects for children, shared study rooms, child-friendly star-rated restrooms, child-friendly ships, dedicated child-friendly bus lines, and shared parent-child bicycles across the city.
