The Fushan Temple Fair was a great cavalcade and extravaganza of fun that was held in Qingtian county, Lishui, Zhejiang province from March 7 to 9.

The traditional folk activity attracted international visitors from countries and regions such as Russia, Cameroon, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan – who all went there to experience the great charms of the local folk culture.

At the Yinglong Academy in Fushan township in Qingtian, activities like making traditional incense cards and incense bead bracelets were particularly popular with the overseas folks. Each item made reflected the personal creativity of the maker, serving as a cherished souvenir of their visit.

The fair also featured an extraordinary wedding parade that captivated the international audience. At 2 pm, in front of Qingzhen Zen Temple, a grand wedding ceremony commenced. The bride, supported by bridesmaids, gracefully entered on an exquisitely decorated sedan chair, while the groom, riding a white horse, cut a dashing figure.

The wedding procession, led by a ceremonial guard, traversed several cultural landmarks in Fushan township, vividly reenacting a traditional Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) wedding.

Visitors said they felt as if they had traveled back in time, experiencing the wonderful traditions and romance of the era.

Oli from Cameroon said that this was the first time she had seen a traditional Chinese wedding, adding that she adored the costumes and the rituals of the affair.

To top it off, the visitors enjoyed enthralling intangible cultural heritage performances and Yue Opera shows.
