The spring semester of the Chinese Language Training Class at Jimingshan community in Yiwu county-level city, Jinhua, Zhejiang province, recently commenced, welcoming over 80 international participants from more than 28 countries.

The program offers two semesters annually, at the beginner and intermediate levels. Beginner classes are scheduled on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, while intermediate classes take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The curriculum for this year includes subjects like AI, the Yiwu dialect, calligraphy, paper-cutting, intangible cultural heritage crafts, law, and Chinese character interpretation, according to the Yiwu Tongyue Social Work Service Center.

At the first class on March 7, prosecutors from the Yiwu municipal procuratorate took on the role of legal instructors, providing lectures to help expats understand Chinese laws and regulations and ensure legal protection for their lives and work in Yiwu.

The teachers of calligraphy, the Yiwu dialect, and other courses also showed the content of their classes. During the calligraphy session, many students opted to write the Chinese characters ni hao — the universal greeting of "hello" — instantly creating a warm and convivial atmosphere.

At the conclusion, participants wrote down their learning aspirations on wish cards, including the hope of improving communications with Chinese people and exploring business opportunities in Yiwu.

As a leading example of international services in Jimingshan community, the Chinese Language Training Class program has served over 120,000 foreign residents from 51 countries and regions over its 11-year history, fostering cultural exchanges and social interaction between Chinese and foreign residents.
