Lishui bamboo, wood products see surge in exports

Bamboo and wood production in Longquan, a county-level city in Lishui, Zhejiang province, reached exports of 88.35 million yuan ($12.11 million) from January to February, with a 65.48 percent increase year-on-year.

This growth reflects the city's strategic focus on innovation and quality enhancement within these industries. In January and February, 21 local bamboo and wood companies exported outdoor products, wooden toys, and furniture.

At the factory of Zhejiang Shengbo Leisure Products Manufacturing Co, workers are busy producing lightweight umbrellas made from wood and fiberglass, with a daily output exceeding 800 units.

These innovative umbrellas are praised for their portability and have become the company's leading product, securing over 10,000 orders at the recent China International Furniture Fair (Guangzhou).

Zhejiang Yiqi Wood Rocker Co is capitalizing on the outdoor leisure trend by focusing on niche markets like rocking chairs and park benches. The company has upgraded its products to be green and low-carbon, capturing significant market interest with 80,000 orders in hand.

According to Huang Zhibing, deputy general manager of Zhejiang Yiqi Wood Rocker Co, the company invests in equipment upgrades and process improvements. Their self-developed multi-hole forming equipment enhances efficiency, reduces waste, and lowers costs.
