An international volunteer fire safety training took place at Shangcheng community in Yiwu county-level city in Jinhua, Zhejiang province, on April 9. Fourteen international volunteers joined the community safety inspection team.
Shangcheng community is known for its high level of internationalization, hosting over 300 foreign-funded enterprises, 11 foreign restaurants, and numerous foreign employees.
In response to this diverse environment, the community established an international volunteer team comprised of Chinese and international volunteers, as well as international students from Yiwu Industrial & Commercial College.
Having lived in Yiwu for 11 years, Simpara Aboubacar Sidiki from Mali is a core member of the international volunteer team. During the training, he took professional terms in Chinese from firefighters and then translated them into English for other volunteers.
Following the training, the volunteers visited foreign restaurants and businesses in the area, distributing fire safety brochures.
Additionally, they also recorded a series of short "Foreign Volunteers Talk Safety" videos with subtitles in multiple languages. These videos will be disseminated through various media channels to convey the safety message to expats in Yiwu.
An official from Shangcheng community emphasized that this multinational team is enhancing fire safety management and safety production standards in areas with a high concentration of foreign-funded enterprises through its innovative "native language explanation + scene demonstration" approach. They will also help with anti-fraud campaigns, cultural exchanges, and foreign-related mediation in the future.
