A delegation of 117 foreign trade representatives from Yiwu county-level city in Jinhua, Zhejiang province, left for Jakarta on May 6 to participate in the first overseas exhibition of the 2025 China Yiwu International Commodities Fair (Yiwu Fair).

Organized by Zhejiang China Commodities City Group Co, the event features 150 booths displaying daily goods, crafts, home appliances, toys, and more.

Wu Lingqiao, a merchant at Yiwu International Trade Market, packed two suitcases with jewelry samples tailored to Indonesian trends, including an assortment of earrings and chic necklaces. "Every product is meticulously crafted based on market research," she said, expressing hope for securing orders.

Wang Zi, a representative of Yiwu Baolaiduo Festive Supplies Co, highlighted long-term partnerships with 30 Indonesian clients, which account for 10 percent of the company's revenue. Wang brought Christmas products designed to meet local consumption preferences, aiming to seize market opportunities with differentiated products.

"We should not put all our eggs in one basket. We will continue to expand our market territory in Southeast Asia to navigate global trade shifts," Wang emphasized.

The delegation will conduct market surveys and prepare booths ahead of the three-day expo from May 8 to 10, where they will negotiate deals to expand their presence in the Southeast Asian market.

Yiwu's exports to Indonesia rose 6.6 percent year-on-year to 2.62 billion yuan ($362.50 million) in the first quarter of this year, according to Yiwu Customs.

The city plans to organize over 20 business groups and more than 1,500 enterprises to go overseas this year and attract over 1 million international buyers.

Following Jakarta, the Yiwu Fair overseas exhibitions will go to Mexico City, Tashkent, Seoul, and Karachi, underscoring Yiwu's strategy to amplify its small-commodity presence worldwide.
