During the May Day holiday from May 1 to 5, East China's Zhejiang province logged over 110 million cross-regional trips, a 9 percent rise compared to 2024, according to the Department of Transport of Zhejiang Province.

Hangzhou Railway Station handled 3.24 million passengers, averaging 405,000 per day — a 12.2 percent increase year-on-year.

Hangzhou International Airport managed 4,575 flights and moved 734,700 passengers, up 3.02 percent and 7.14 percent respectively from last year. The airport saw 473 international flights and 76,900 cross-border travelers, up 15.37 percent and 13.36 percent.

To meet the demand, the airport partnered with airlines to add flights and use wide-body jets on key routes such as Singapore, Bangkok, Kansai, and Phuket, boosting daily service by one flight per route.

Ningbo Lishe International Airport also posted record highs. It served 246,000 passengers and oversaw 1,640 flights, increases of 14.1 percent and 6.4 percent, respectively. Cross-border travelers topped 15,000, up 18 percent from 2024, with nearly 1,000 foreign nationals, a 94 percent jump.

On the highways, Hangzhou alone saw 24.15 million road travelers, 4.3 percent more than last year.
