Ningbo-Latin America trade reaches historic high in Jan-April

Trade between Ningbo and Latin American countries reached 42.72 billion yuan ($5.92 billion) from January to April, setting a new record with a 2.8 percent year-on-year growth, according to Ningbo Customs.

In this period, Ningbo's exports to Latin America totaled 30.21 billion yuan, up 27.6 percent year-on-year, with electromechanical products dominating. These products accounted for over 60 percent of total exports, including 5.33 billion yuan worth shipped to Brazil.

One notable example is Ningbo Henglida Technology Co, which recently exported to Brazil nearly 3 million yuan worth of industrial equipment, including voltage regulators and chip mounters. The company's exports to Brazil surged to 1.1 billion yuan in the first four months, marking a 4.3-fold increase.

Additionally, toys saw remarkable growth, with exports to Latin American countries rising 82.6 percent to 230 million yuan. Demand surged in Brazil and Argentina, with increases of 130 percent and 1,230 percent, respectively. Ningbo Haoqi Toys Co reported a 1.3-fold rise in its shipments to Latin American countries.

Imports reached 12.51 billion yuan, with Mexico leading at 1.34 billion yuan, up 44.5 percent. Ningbo Cimei International Trade Co expanded its imports of recycled metals from several Latin American countries. Besides boosting orders from Brazil and Mexico, the company expanded its supply chains to Chile, Colombia, Puerto Rico, and Bolivia.
