Slovakia is eager to deepen cooperation with China in the electric vehicle sector and beyond, said Slovak Ambassador to China Peter Lizak in an exclusive interview with Ningbo Daily ahead of the China-CEEC Expo, which will be held from May 22 to 25 in Ningbo, Zhejiang province.
As one of the world's leading car producers per capita, Slovakia is rapidly embracing the shift to electric mobility. Lizak highlighted major developments such as Volvo's new EV plant and Chinese battery maker Gotion High-Tech's investment in southern Slovakia, calling them milestones in bilateral cooperation.
He praised Ningbo's role as a key hub for China-CEEC collaboration and said Slovakia's national pavilion at this year's expo will showcase the country's strengths in automotive technology, crystal glassware, and tourism. Plans to launch direct flights between the two countries are also in the works to boost travel and people-to-people exchanges.
Lizak noted the growing ties in education, including successful programs between Ningbo and Slovak universities. With shared interests in green energy, smart manufacturing, and innovation, Slovakia sees strong potential in expanding its cooperation with China across multiple sectors.
