Quzhou's Doolittle Raid Rescue exhibition receives provincial award

An exhibition titled Forged in Blood and Fire: Doolittle Raid Rescue in Quzhou, held in Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, has been awarded a Special Award at the 19th Zhejiang Provincial Museum Exhibition Excellence Awards for 2024.

Guided by the Zhejiang Provincial Bureau of Cultural Heritage and organized by the Zhejiang Museum Society, the competition recognized 10 exhibitions with excellence awards, three with special awards, one for international cooperation, and seven with merit awards.

The exhibition honors the historic friendship between Quzhou and the United States, which was forged during the famous Doolittle Raid Rescue in World War II.

The exhibition, which opened on April 18, 2024, at the Memorial Hall to the Doolittle Raid in Quzhou, spans 960 square meters and features a 256-meter-long display line. Presented bilingually in Chinese and English, it features over 200 artifacts and 400 historical photos, including B-25 bomber wreckage, pilot badges, and signed memorabilia.

The exhibition's artifacts were contributed by local researchers, descendants of rescuers, patriotic overseas Chinese, and various archives and museums from China and the US, including a significant donation from Chen Canpei, or Pedro Chan, a renowned Chinese-American collector and head of the American Flying Tigers Institute.

Since its opening, the exhibition has received a total of over 300,000 tourist visits, including more than 1,000 domestic and international groups.
