Over 20 international visitors from countries including Russia, South Africa, and Pakistan explored the rural charm of Pinghu, a county-level city in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, on June 14.
During their visit, the participants toured Majiu village in Caoqiao district and Xujiaidai village in Lindai town. In Majiu village, they admired the historical elegance of the thousand-year-old village and explored a museum for China's rural low-carbon science. The visitors learned about eco-friendly farming systems such as the rice-mushroom-bamboo cycle and experienced the benefits of low-carbon living. They also discovered the story behind Pinghu's ancient bridges and the graceful water town heritage.
To highlight Pinghu's intangible heritage, organizers offered local specialties such as chigao, a glutinous rice cake known for its traditional flavor. Visitors were also drawn to the colorful display of rowing boats. After changing into professional rowing gear, they paddled through the shimmering river in boats.
The tour continued in Xujiaidai village, known as "China's first baseball village". At the local museum for baseball culture, visitors tried on gear and participated in an indoor batting experience, gaining insight into the sport's growth in the village.
The event provided a dynamic platform for cross-cultural exchange and demonstrated Pinghu's blend of tradition, innovation, and natural beauty.
