Paddleboarders make waves in Huzhou's Nanxun ancient town

To the sounds of splashing and shouts of glee, the 7th Nanxun Ancient Town Paddleboard Open caused a delightful stir when it took place in Nanxun district, Huzhou, Zhejiang province, from June 20 to 22.

As usual, the annual event blended the beauty of Nanxun ancient town with the excitement of water sports.

The competition attracted around 500 participants from across China, along with over 200 locals from Nanxun district itself. Set against the picturesque backdrop of the ancient town, the event created a vibrant scene of hundreds of paddleboards racing along on the charming waterways.

The contest featured events such as the ancient town long-distance race, the team dragon board race, and the non-powered hydrofoil invitational, with winners receiving medals, certificates and cash prizes. Additional events like the freestyle challenge added to the excitement and fun.

Having been held six times previously, the Nanxun Ancient Town Paddleboard Open became a recognized provincial brand sports event in 2021. This year, the event expanded with commercial, industrial, and international elements.

Notably, International Surfing Association World Champion Daniel Hasulyo from Hungary participated in the signature long-distance race, achieving great results.

The event also integrated various outdoor activities — promoting paddleboarding and other sports to inspire general enthusiasm for public fitness.
