A photo exhibition tracing the life of renowned writer Sanmao is happening now at Kaihong Plaza in Dinghai district, Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, offering a fresh way for the public to engage with literature and art from June 20 to 30.

Unlike traditional museum displays, the exhibition is set up in a bustling commercial space, allowing passersby to experience Sanmao's story in an accessible and relatable environment.

Nearly 100 rare photos document her journey from her birth in Chongqing and childhood in Taipei city, Taiwan, to her adventures in the Sahara and her search for family roots in Zhoushan. The exhibition also features books, video materials, memorabilia, and cultural products inspired by her work.

Onsite, calligraphers from Dinghai write her famous quotes on fans, which are given to visitors as keepsakes.

Organizers hope the exhibition brings Sanmao's legacy to a wider audience, breaking down barriers between art and daily life. Additional exhibitions of painting and calligraphy are planned to continue bringing culture into everyday public spaces across Dinghai.
