Huzhou shows its sustainable innovation at Osaka Expo
The China Pavilion at the Expo 2025 Osaka, which is taking place in Osaka, Japan, launched its "Zhejiang Week" on July 12.
Huzhou in Zhejiang province presented its achievements in sustainable development under the theme of Green Innovation Leading Sustainable Development in Ecological Resource-rich Areas — focusing on ecology, industry, and common prosperity.
Huzhou has long adhered to the philosophy that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" — prioritizing ecological preservation and green growth. The city has developed a sustainable path characterized by its natural beauty, thriving industries, and shared prosperity.

In Anji county, innovative ecological restoration techniques have transformed two adjacent limestone pits into a heart-shaped pond, revitalizing local tourism.
Known as the "Hometown of Bamboo in China", Anji has also pioneered bamboo-based carbon trading, generating significant economic benefits. By 2024, the county had traded a total of 25,000 metric tons of carbon credits of bamboo forests, yielding over 1.5 billion yuan ($209.22 million) in economic returns.
In Deqing county, efforts to restore wetlands and connect water systems have created a sanctuary for the rare crested ibis. This initiative has seamlessly integrated wildlife conservation with ecological tourism, fueling rural vitalization.
