Zhejiang GDP up 5.8% in H1

The GDP of East China's Zhejiang province reached 4.5 trillion yuan ($626 billion) in the first half of 2025, up 5.8 percent year-on-year, according to the Zhejiang Provincial Bureau of Statistics on July 21.

Industrial output showed strong momentum, with 37 major sectors reporting significant gains. Output of industrial robots rose 85.7 percent, lithium-ion batteries 65.2 percent, laptop computers 47.3 percent, and new energy vehicles 43.3 percent.

The services sector grew 6.0 percent year-on-year. Among key contributors, value-added in information transmission, software and information technology services increased 9.3 percent. Transportation, warehousing and postal services rose 7.2 percent. Wholesale and retail climbed 7.9 percent. Leasing and business services advanced 5.9 percent. The financial sector gained 8.4 percent.

Retail sales of consumer goods totaled 1.9 trillion yuan, a 5.3 percent increase. Goods retail rose 5.2 percent to 1.71 trillion yuan, while catering revenue rose 5.8 percent to 184.1 billion yuan.

The average urban surveyed unemployment rate stood at 4.7 percent. A total of 588,000 new urban jobs were created in the first half.

Per capita disposable income across the province reached 37,813 yuan, up 5.1 percent year-on-year. Urban residents saw their income rise 4.7 percent to 43,293 yuan, while rural residents' income grew 5.7 percent to 25,986 yuan.
