The new Banshengdong direct-sale store for island specialty goods began trial operations on Aug 2 in Putuo district of Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, creating a new platform that connects island producers with urban consumers.

The 290-square-meter shop offers a wide range of locally made products sourced from "Gong Fu Gong Fang (common prosperity)" workshops in the area. Tourists and residents can now buy regional specialties like tuna products.

Livestreaming promotions and an outdoor market on the same day drew large crowds, boosting visibility of the island-made products.

Beyond retailing, the store features island-themed displays, casual dining and interactive leisure spaces to enhance the customer experience. It also offers delivery services, allowing travelers to take home local goods hassle-free.

Putuo's approach integrates resources from local towns, villages, State-owned enterprises, and workshops. Through direct supply, village-business partnerships, and online-offline sales, the district has built a production and distribution system connecting businesses, farms, workshops, and retail outlets.

Future plans include establishing partnerships with nearby night markets to create a short-chain supply route from workshops to restaurants.

Currently, Putuo operates seven such outlets, promoting over 100 local products in urban markets.
