Zhejiang province is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its "Eight Projects" initiative, launched in July 2005, which aims to enhance civic quality, cultural excellence, cultural research, cultural preservation, cultural industry promotion, cultural infrastructure, cultural communication, and cultural talent development.
Over the past two decades, Zhejiang has steadily advanced these cultural initiatives, driving the province's transition from a cultural powerhouse to a leading force in cultural development.
Currently, 102 public libraries in Zhejiang allow for interlibrary loans of physical books, with users across the country benefiting from the service.
Key cultural landmarks, including West Lake, the Grand Canal, and the Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City, have been included in the UNESCO World Heritage list. Zhejiang also ranks first in China for the number of national-level intangible cultural heritage projects and their inheritors.
Over the last 20 years, Zhejiang has continuously focused on developing key cultural industries and creating major cultural platforms, encouraging industry collaboration and spurring innovation.
In 2017, the China Internet Writers Village was established in Hangzhou's Binjiang district by the shores of Baima Lake. The village has since attracted 325 well-known online writers, producing more than 300 notable works.
This year, the Zhejiang-produced series Legend of Zang Hai has been broadcast simultaneously in 190 countries and regions, setting a new benchmark for China's cultural exports.
