Niutou Mountain scenic area in Wuyi county, Jinhua, Zhejiang province, reported impressive tourism revenue of 16 million yuan ($2.23 million) from January to July, marking a year-on-year increase of 139 percent.

The scenic area has enhanced its visitor experience by upgrading infrastructure and diversifying its offerings. The water park has been renovated with improved pools, rafting watercourses, and safety equipment, while a newly built covered bridge provides shaded rest areas for visitors.

Besides infrastructure upgrades, efforts to extend industrial value chains have been successful. New entertainment options at the mountain's foothills complement the natural landscapes above, extending average stays from half a day to over 1.5 days and boosting secondary spending on dining and accommodations.

"Previously, tourists only came for daytime sightseeing; now many stay overnight for homestays and nighttime activities," said a staff member at the scenic area.

Data shows a significant increase in overnight tourists from January to July, with weekend rooms nearly sold out throughout summer peaks.
