Zhejiang province's total foreign trade reached 3.19 trillion yuan ($444.27 billion) from January to July 2025, up 5.9 percent year-on-year. Exports rose 8.4 percent to 2.42 trillion yuan, while imports fell slightly by 1.1 percent. All three key indicators — total trade, exports, and imports — surpassed the national averages.
The province's share of national trade also increased. Total trade and exports accounted for 12.4 percent and 15.8 percent of the country's totals, up 0.3 and 0.1 percentage points from the same period last year. Import share remained stable at 7.4 percent.
Trade with the European Union and ASEAN — the top two markets — increased by 9.4 percent and 15.6 percent, respectively.
Exports to ASEAN, the Middle East, Latin America, and Africa grew by 16.1 percent, 12.5 percent, 12.7 percent, and 12.3 percent, boosting their proportions of provincial exports. Trade with countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative rose 8.8 percent to 1.82 trillion yuan, making up 57 percent of Zhejiang's total trade.
Key export categories maintained steady growth. Mechanical and electrical products rose 9.7 percent, labor-intensive goods grew 4.5 percent, and high-tech exports increased 8.7 percent, with medical instruments and high-end equipment achieving double-digit growth. High-tech imports surged 29.6 percent, and imports of bulk commodities and consumer goods also saw growth.
