Jiaxing doctor saves man in Xizang
Zhu Zhenya, a doctor from Jiaxing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, recently saved a man at a restaurant in Lhasa, Xizang autonomous region.
Zhu, with more than 20 years of medical experience, was walking with colleagues when he heard calls for help. Inside the restaurant, a middle-aged man lay on the ground convulsing, with his jaw clenched, and foaming at the mouth. Recognizing signs of epilepsy, Zhu quickly took action to keep the patient's airway clear and prevent choking.
Zhu instructed his colleague to disperse the crowd and call for emergency services, while he carefully protected the man's head, turned it to one side, and managed to ease open his jaw. Doctors from a nearby clinic soon arrived with an oxygen tank, and together they helped stabilize the man's breathing until paramedics reached the scene.
The patient recovered, and after briefing the emergency team, Zhu and his colleagues left.
Zhu is currently serving at the Seni District People's Hospital in Nagqu, Xizang. Despite experiencing altitude sickness when first arriving in Xizang, he said he had prepared mentally for the physical challenges and remains committed to sharing his medical knowledge and supporting local healthcare development.
