Anji county in Huzhou, East China's Zhejiang province unveiled its original musical Bufuqingshan on Aug 18.

It's the first musical in the country to spotlight the green practices of Yucun village in Anji, the birthplace of national development concept that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets".

The musical narrates the green transformation from a "quarrying economy" to an "ecological economy" of Yucun village. Through music, dance, and multimedia, it vividly illustrates the progress, aiming to share the Chinese practices of ecological civilization and green development globally.

Yucun's transformation reflects the arduous journey of turning natural treasures into sustainable growth in Anji and in China.

The musical portrays the challenges faced after the decline of the local quarry industry and emphasizes that green transformation requires environmental efforts and a shift in mindset and skills.

Created as a tribute to the concept's 20th anniversary, the musical is a labor of love by local playwright Dou Xinyuan and his father, Dou Guosheng. Despite limited resources, their dedication led to a collaborative cultural project involving local government and national artists.

Following its premiere in October, the musical will tour nationally, with plans for long-term performances at the Anji Cultural Arts Center and regular shows in Yucun. The initiative aims to become a cultural landmark, showcasing Anji's 20-year ecological transformation.
