US youth visits Lishui in search of 'panda of plants'

Baishanzu National Park is recognized as one of China's 35 priority zones for biodiversity conservation and represents the last "gene bank" for the subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forests in East China.

While trekking along its mountain trails, Evan Kail — a US cultural blogger and generous donor of a WWII photo album to China — spotted the elusive Chinese muntjac and the Baishanzu fir, known as "the giant panda of the plant world".
