Shaoxing in Zhejiang province has accelerated the development of a "10-minute fitness circle" since early 2025, expanding sports facilities and increasing per capita venue space from 3.15 to 3.29 square meters — among the highest in the province.

According to the municipal sports bureau, the city has been repurposing old factory sites and cleared lots to build a wide range of fitness facilities. Projects include integrating sports amenities into public parks, developing soccer fields, community multi-sport venues, and fitness trails, giving residents more opportunities to enjoy a green lifestyle.

Zhuji city has focused on building large venues and hosting signature events. The Xishi Basketball Center — built with a 1 billion yuan ($139.2 million) investment and seating 18,000 — officially opened on July 29, hosting the Zhejiang Provincial City Basketball League and other events that drew large crowds.

Keqiao district has also included 20 new outdoor fitness venues in its local public welfare initiatives. Seventeen have been completed, with the remaining three scheduled for completion by the end of August, ahead of schedule.
