Austrian shooters Steiner Sylvia and Zechmeister Richard proved that experience counts as they competed at the 2025 ISSF World Cup in Ningbo, Zhejiang province.

The duo participated in the 10m air pistol mixed team qualification on Sept 9, ending in 16th place. Both athletes acknowledged that their performance was below expectations.

Steiner reflected that some shots could have been executed better, while Zechmeister noted that there was room for improvement. They emphasized that age is not a barrier in shooting sports and that competing alongside younger athletes remains a rewarding challenge.

Steiner, born in 1982, began shooting at age 10 and has over 30 years of experience, while Zechmeister, born in 1975, currently ranks 10th in the men's 10m air pistol standings. The pair have previously achieved notable success, including winning gold in the 10m air pistol mixed team event at the 2022 Cairo World Championships. They expressed hope to replicate such championship performances in future competitions and remain committed to pursuing Olympic-level results.

In the coming days, Zechmeister will compete in the men's 25m rapid fire pistol and 10m air pistol events, while Steiner is scheduled for the women's 25m pistol and 10m air pistol competitions. The Austrian duo emphasized that the World Cup provides valuable experience and opportunities to continue challenging themselves against top international talent.
