Ningbo's Wang Chang and partner Liang Weikeng claimed their first title of the season at the 2025 Hong Kong Open on Sept 14, rallying from behind to defeat India's Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty in a gripping men's doubles final. The win marks China's first men's doubles triumph at this tournament since 2012, ending a 13-year drought.
After dropping the first game 19-21 due to early errors, the Chinese pair tightened their play in the second, surging ahead to win 21-14. In the decider, they opened with a commanding 6-0 lead and maintained control throughout, sealing their win 21-17.
Their path to the final was equally impressive. The duo overcame Indonesia's Leo Rolly Carnando/Bagas Maulana, fellow Chinese teammates Huang Di/Liu Yang, and swept Taiwan's Lee Fang-chih/Lee Fang-jen in straight sets in the semifinals.
The Hong Kong Open, a BWF World Tour Super 500 event, saw several top players rest following the World Championships — including China's Shi Yuqi and Chen Yufei. Yet the tournament still featured elite talent like Denmark's Viktor Axelsen and China's Liu Shengshu/Tan Ning.
