Zhoushan's Putuo, Shengsi ranked among China's top 100 tourism regions
Putuo district and Shengsi county in Zhoushan, in East China's Zhejiang province, were both included in a list of China's top 100 tourism competitiveness regions, according to a report released in Beijing recently.
Putuo district has utilized its island, bay, and coastal resources to develop marine industries and cultural tourism. Within the district, Putuo Mountain recorded 12.3 million visits in 2024, generating tourism revenue of 10.11 billion yuan ($1.42 billion). Luojia Mountain welcomed 1.68 million visits, marking a 5 percent year-on-year increase. The district also recorded accommodation revenue of 610 million yuan, catering revenue of 127 million yuan, and wholesale and retail revenue of 75 million yuan in 2024.

Using special funding for green transformation and the "Blue Bay" project, Shengsi county has advanced the protection, restoration, and upgrading of marine and coastal areas. These efforts have supported the development of mussel farming, recreational fishing, and new energy sectors. In 2024, Shengsi's tourism industry added value grew by 7.4 percent, while visits increased by over 10 percent.
