The retail market in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, has continued to gain strength this winter, following 245.79 billion yuan ($34.58 billion) in retail sales from January to October, a 6.4 percent year-on-year increase and the fastest pace in the province.

Digital and green products continue to lead the upgrade cycle, with sales of wearable devices increasing by more than 12-fold, smartphones rising threefold, and home appliance sales up 59.9 percent. New-energy vehicle sales grew 23 percent, and online retail expanded by 51.8 percent. More than 60 first-in-city stores, including Sam's Club, were introduced over the period.

Seasonal activities and family-friendly promotions are continuing to boost foot traffic. The Nanbei Lake scenic spot's autumn program, which allowed primary and middle school students to visit selected attractions for free, drew 197,700 visits in five days and generated strong demand for local produce.

Jiaxing's long-term efforts to strengthen its consumer environment are also reinforcing market confidence. A three-year action plan with 65 measures aims to improve rights protection, service quality, and the quantity of marketplace orders. The recent autumn shopping festival recorded 370,000 visits and generated 58 million yuan in sales, underscoring the growing appeal of the city's retail sector.
