The fourth 1390 Island Trail Running concluded on Nov 30 in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, drawing more than 2,000 runners from China and abroad to coastal routes that combine mountain climbs and sea views.

This year's race featured categories for seasoned runners, recreational participants, and families, including a 106-kilometer cross-island ultra race, a 66-km challenge race, a 36-km starter race, a 20-km experience run, and a youth obstacle event. The routes linked fishing ports, urban waterfronts, coastal trails, and national fitness paths via paved roads, forest tracks, and historic pathways, with panoramic views of the Zhoushan Islands along the coast.

The event followed a comprehensive safety plan that included expert route reviews, multi-departmental coordination, and on-site emergency arrangements, with 12 supply stations, 20 shelter points, 12 medical posts, six ambulances, and multiple rescue teams deployed along the course. GPS devices were required for long-distance runners, and drones and thermal-imaging tools enhanced nighttime monitoring.

Volunteers provided guidance, supplies, and transport support, with local dishes such as seafood noodles and sweet rice-wine dumplings served at the start, finish, and supply points, adding regional character.

The race has evolved over four editions into an event that blends sport with cultural and tourism experiences, strengthening Zhoushan's role in the Yangtze River Delta region's outdoor-sports landscape.
