The flower market in Yuecheng district, Shaoxing, has entered its peak sales season for Spring Festival flowers, with an increase in new varieties and a noticeable rise in customer traffic.

Phalaenopsis orchids remain the market's top sellers. Inside one shop, a variety of orchids are displayed in a small greenhouse. The shop owner noted that orchids have been unusually popular over the past two years, leading him to organize ample stock this year.

New varieties are particularly favored by younger consumers seeking novelty. Prices have remained stable overall, with single plants selling for between 25 and 50 yuan ($3.57 and $7.19), while multi-plant arrangements range from 100 to 800 yuan.

Traditional Spring Festival flowers such as winterberry, money trees, and narcissus continue to sell well. Consumers have a wide range of choices, from narcissus and lucky bamboo priced at 30 to 50 yuan per pot to lemon and plum trees costing 200 to 300 yuan each. Many people also opt for freshly cut flowers for around 30 yuan per bundle.

As Spring Festival approaches, there has been a significant increase in large transactions exceeding 500 yuan per order, according to local vendors.

One market vendor said a customer recently purchased 2,000 yuan worth of plants for the purpose of decorating their garden. Overall, the market is experiencing a trend of rising sales volume and value.
