Jiaxing sees expanded foreign trade in Jan-Aug
Jiaxing's ports have been bustling with activity, reflecting steady growth in foreign trade. From January to August, the city's total imports and exports reached 316.59 billion yuan ($44.9 billion), a 10.4-percent increase year-on-year.
To maintain and enhance foreign trade amidst challenges like weakening demand and insufficient orders, Jiaxing is stabilizing traditional markets, expanding into new ones, and adjusting industrial structures.
Green and digital transformations are being implemented to stabilize traditional markets, encouraging enterprises to adopt smart technologies and set green standards. Policies supporting international R&D and product branding have allowed labor-intensive products to pursue differentiated development globally.
By July, exports of traditional products like furniture, bags, and textiles reached 54.96 billion yuan, an 8.4-percent increase, accounting for 26.3 percent of the city's total exports.
Jiaxing is also exploring new markets such as ASEAN, Africa, and the Middle East by organizing overseas exhibitions and establishing sales spaces. The upcoming Dubai-Jiaxing International Consumer Goods Expo in November will serve as a new gateway for Jiaxing products to enter Middle Eastern markets.
Additionally, Jiaxing has optimized its industrial layout and trade structure, with the photovoltaic industry now accounting for over a third of the province's photovoltaic exports annually.
