Baixiang kouji is a typical dish of Shaoxing cuisine. Baixiang, or salted dried yellow croaker, is a kind of precious seafood. It has a sweet taste and experts hold that it has a mild nature in traditional Chinese medicine. It can stimulate the appetite, help the digestion, and alleviate fatigue.

"Yueji", a local poultry product of Shaoxing is also thought to be good for health. It was offered to emperors as a tribute in ancient times.

The two ingredients can be steamed to be a healthy dish with both good taste and aroma.
