A mission from Shaoxing, East China's Zhejiang province, promoted the ancient city's tourism attractions in Shenzhen, Guangdong province during the 2020 Shenzhen Shaoxing Week from Dec 5 to 8.

At the No 7 Venue of the Shenzhen World Exhibition and Convention Center, the mission set up a Shaoxing Pavilion to exhibit featured creative cultural products, sightseeing itineraries, and recommended attractions.

Representatives from Shaoxing's tourism industry introduced six themed tours:

1. Tasting Shaoxing huangjiu (yellow rice wine) and local cuisine.

2. Visiting the Shaoxing Orchid Pavilion and trying out calligraphy.

3. Visiting the Shen Garden and listen to Yueju Opera.

4. Following in the footsteps of famous poets and experiencing Buddhist culture.

5. Taking a Wupeng Boat (Black-awning boat) and crossing ancient bridges.

6. Visiting the former residences of prominent writers such as Lu Xun.

Shaoxing has a long history, and it gained recognition during the Spring and Autumn period (770-476 BC), when it served as the capital of the State of Yue. During the Song Dynasty (960-1279), authorities gave it the name Shaoxing.

The city is a famous tourist destination with many rivers to cross. Abundant waterways and stone bridges are among the most memorable features of this "Venice of China".
