Starting March 29, buses operated by Hangzhou's Xiaoshan Public Transportation Company will depart from Guniangqiao Station on Hangzhou Metro Line 5 and pass through Shaoxing's Keqiao district before arriving at Anchang Station.

For residents in Shaoxing, the buses will depart from Anchang Station at 10:30, 11:30, 15:00, and 16:00 until further adjustment. The ticket price is 4 yuan ($61 cents). Cash and Alipay are both accepted.

In April 2020, a similar line was launched to connect Shaoxing Railway Station and Guniangqiao Station. "The tickets are always sold out during rush hour and half of the passengers work in one city but live in the other," said bus driver Sun Jianxin.

According to Shaoxing's "comprehensive transportation plan (2021-50)", the city will offer a "3-3-6" transportation model that would allow for a 30-minute travel between any two places in the city and from Shaoxing to Hangzhou or Ningbo, and a 60-minute commute to Shanghai.

Local transportation authorities said the plan will make Shaoxing a key part of Hangzhou's metropolis circle.
