Shaoxing-based home appliance manufacturer Zhejiang SAKACO Electrical Co Ltd has developed a new type of high-tech cooking stove that is able to turn electricity power into flame.
"Its working principle resembles usual gas cookers, while the biggest difference is that this kind of stove needs electricity rather than chemical fuels to light a flame," said Song Mingliang, chairman of the company.
According to Song, the flame is actually plasma torch, which results from the reaction between electricity currents and air.
Users can adjust the power between a range of 1,000 watts to 2,500 watts, giving them more choices when cooking different meals.
Speaking of the reasons behind the invention, Song revealed that China's natural gas price is on the rise as the country currently needs imports.
Additionally, natural gas is not renewable, while electricity power is, he added.
Song went on to say that if residents spend two hours every day using a gas stove to cook meals, their spending on natural gas every month would amount to about 100 yuan ($15.36), while if they use electricity, it would only cost about 60 yuan a month.
People will be able to save a lot if they use this kind of electricity stove. It is also helpful for energy saving and emission reduction, he noted.
Song stressed that the safety of the electricity stove is guaranteed and that it matched the needs of those who live in a flat where gas pipelines are not allowed to be installed.
Song is optimistic about the prospect of the stoves. He said that the product will be mass produced in August.
