China Shaoxing Yellow Rice Wine Group in Shaoxing, East China's Zhejiang province has been dedicated to developing the "Yellow Rice Wine Brain", a digital platform designed to bolster the ancient industry's modern development, local media reported on Sept 10.

The move was in response to the province's digital reform campaign. It is intended to remove current restrictions on management, production, and sales models.

Under the "Yellow Rice Wine Brain" platform, each bottle of wine is branded with a QR code, which can be regarded as the ID card of the bottle of yellow rice wine. The QR code can tell who the dealers are and where the wine is sold.

The group will utilize digital technology to mark each step of the yellow rice wine making process from fermentation to brewing, said a staff member of the company.

Shaoxing yellow rice wine is often used as the Chinese equivalent to the ubiquitous cooking sherry. It was first brewed over 2,500 years ago, and its brewing technique was listed as a State-level intangible cultural heritage item in 2006.
