Shaoxing to host 18th China Expo Forum

Shaoxing in East China's Zhejiang province will take over the baton from Fuzhou, capital of Southern China's Fujian province, to host the 18th China Expo Forum for International Cooperation, according to an announcement made at the opening ceremony of 17th China Expo Forum for International Cooperation in Fuzhou on Jan 12.

Shaoxing will be the second prefecture-level city in China to host the grand event following Wuxi in Jiangsu province.

The city's top official said that Shaoxing will make use of the event to showcase its intangible cultural heritage and achievements in industrial economy and social development.

Over the past few years, Shaoxing has made strong efforts to grow its exhibition and convention economy. The exhibition and convention industry has become one of the fastest-growing and most promising sector in the city, said local authorities.

Shaoxing has also hosted events including the World Textile Merchandising Conference, the China International Huangjiu (Yellow Wine) Industry Expo and the China-Japan-Korea Business Conference.

The CEFCO is organized annually by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the Union of International Fairs, the International Association of Exhibitions and Projects, the Society of Independent Show Organizers and the International Congress & Convention Association.

Approved by the State Council, the 18th CEFCO will be held in Shaoxing from Jan 11 to 13, 2023.
