Shaoxing's exports and imports were valued at 299.3 billion yuan in 2021, up 16.1 percent year-on-year, Shaoxing Customs announced on Jan 24.

Exports and imports were valued at 275.66 billion yuan and 23.64 billion yuan, up 15.5 percent and 23.1 percent respectively.

The annual foreign trade value was shy of the target 300 billion due to the COVID-19 outbreak in Shangyu district from Dec 7 to 31, said a staff member of Shaoxing Customs.

The market procurement trade mode, which features quick customs clearance and value-added tax exemption, is one in which eligible business operators can buy goods with a single declaration value of up to $150,000 in market cluster areas recognized by commerce authorities and other agencies. The goods can also undergo clearance procedures at the point of purchase.

Officials said that the adoption of this new mode helps export the city's textile, electronic, and plastic products to 135 countries and regions.
