The total output value of the printing and dyeing industry in Keqiao district, Shaoxing, East China's Zhejiang province, in 2021 stood at 50.08 billion yuan ($7.91 billion), up by 13 percent year-on-year, according to local media on Feb 21.

Officials attributed the growth to technical innovation and use of digital technology.

Take Yongtong Printing Co Ltd for an example. The company spends more than 4 percent of its annual business income on research and development.

Last year, the entry submitted by the company won the "excellence award" of the 22nd China Patent Award competition. It was also involved in the formulation of the standards for artificial cotton.

The use of digital technology helps Zhejiang Yingfeng Technology Co Ltd greatly improve its production efficiency. Proportioning, packing and quality check are all conducted automatically at the company's workshops.

According to Fu Shuangli, chairman of the company, their business output in 2021 grew by 30 percent than the previous year.
