Shaoxing partners agricultural giants to bolster industrial growth

Shaoxing, East China's Zhejiang province, signed strategic partnership deals with five major global agricultural firms on March 5.

Sheng Yuechun, the top official of Shaoxing, and executives from Syngenta Group, FMC Corporation, Bayer, Hebei Veyong Bio-Chemical Co Ltd and ICL Group attended the signing ceremony.

The five firms are globally advanced agricultural tech firms that possess advanced technologies for the development of fertilizers, pesticides and bio-nutrients.

During the ceremony, Sheng spoke about the current development of Shaoxing's agricultural industry, saying that the city now has 123,067 hectares of grain acreage with an annual total grain output of 793,000 tons.

Sheng added that Shaoxing is ranked second among all cities in Zhejiang in terms of grain acreage and output.

He also expressed hope that the partnership would improve the grain production and farmers' incomes.

Under the agreement, the five firms will step up cooperation with Shaoxing in the fields of new retails, digital marketing, technological innovation, training of skilled workers and agricultural services.
