A designer works on new designs for socks at a sock firm in Datang subdistrict of Zhuji, East China's Zhejiang province on April 21. 

Since the first quarter, Zhuji, dubbed "the global sock center", has seen a boom in both production and sale of socks. 

Data shows the export volume in the first quarter of Datang alone reached around 2.11 billion yuan ($326.63 million), up 54.4 percent year-on-year.
