The municipal commerce bureau of Shaoxing recently announced that livestreaming sales have been pivotal in driving the growth of the city's e-commerce industry.

According to the bureau, the city's e-commerce industry achieved a retail sales volume of 15.41 billion yuan ($2.31 billion), up 11.8 percent year on year, in the first quarter of 2022. This was largely due to the use of livestreaming to promote and sell goods.

From January to April, the China Textile City -- a national distribution center of textile products in Shaoxing – saw its retail sales volume reach 23.42 billion yuan, up 44.59 percent year on year.
