The fourth China Shaoxing International Friendship Cities Conference opened in Shaoxing, East China's Zhejiang province, on May 19.
The main venue in Shaoxing hosted over 120 representatives of foreign embassies, chambers, and enterprises. Representatives of 15 cities from six countries attended the event online.
The conference saw the signing of 10 projects and the release of the Shaoxing Initiative, which is aimed to promote cooperation between cities in public heath, economy, technology, culture, and social welfare.

The Shaoxing International Friendship Cities Conference, which has been held thrice since 2016, has led to the signing of 36 deals in trade, education, and culture.
Shaoxing's history of international friendship started in 1983. To date, the city in East China has fostered friendship ties with 54 cities in 27 countries.
