Wang Shenyi, an 18-year-old girl from Shaoxing, East China's Zhejiang province, received the province's first admission letter for archaeology major since Zhejiang set up the bachelor's program at Zhejiang University City College in 2020.

On July 25, Zhejiang University City College President Luo Weidong, together with Du Zhengxian, director of the college's archaeology department, presented the acceptance letter to the 18-year-old Wang, who was then serving as a volunteer at the Shaoxing Museum.

"My dream finally came true," said Wang.

"My mother is a worker at the Shaoxing Museum. Every summer holiday, she takes me to the museum. I can see every change that has taken place in the museum and the relics here are my closest friends."

According to Du, there are no more than 200 people who are engaged in archaeology in Zhejiang. In a bid to fulfill the gap, Zhejiang University City College started preparing to introduce the major in 2020.

This year, the archaeology program at the college will accept 30 students.
